Daniel Rosenstein, MD

Dr. Rosenstein is a reconstructive urologist at Kaiser San Jose with over 13 years experience in reconstructive urology. He completed his medical degree and urology residency at McGill University in Montreal. In 2002, he completed a two-year fellowship in adult and pediatric genitourinary reconstruction with Gerald Jordan, MD at Eastern Virginia Medical School. In 2003, he completed a second fellowship in Urologic Trauma and Reconstruction with Dr. Jack W. McAninch at the University of California, San Francisco. From 2003-2014, he was part of the Urology Faculty of Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

Dr. Rosenstein’s clinical interests include gender affirmation surgery, urologic trauma, urethral reconstructive surgery and complex reconstruction in neurogenically compromised patients. His research has focused on novel approaches to urethroplasty, reconstruction in the spinal cord injured patient, as well as efficacy of Botulinum Toxin in overactive bladder. He was one of the main contributors to the 2010 International Consultation on Urologic Disease (ICUD) guidelines on Urethral Strictures. From 2012-2015, he led an International Mission to Haiti to focus specifically on educating the local urologists in management of complex urologic reconstructive challenges.

Dr. Rosenstein has written extensively on the topics of urologic trauma and reconstruction, and was on the Board of Directors of the Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons from 2010-2014. He also teach a postgraduate course at the American Urologic Association national meeting on Urethral reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Rosenstein joined Kaiser Permanente in 2015 after about 15 years in academic practice. He believes the Kaiser Permanente model allows me to deliver high level individualized care to patients with a variety of urologic conditions. His main area of expertise is reconstructive urology, including conditions such as urethral strictures, male and female urinary incontinence, Peyronie's Disease, erectile dysfunction and prosthetic urology.
